Send Files That Don't Stick Around

Drop your files in, hand over a link, a QR code, or a short code, and you're done. No account needed on the other side, no files floating around the internet forever: every transfer expires on your schedule and takes its files with it. Or send directly, device to device, so the file is never uploaded anywhere at all.

Loading File Transfer…

What you get

Hand it off however you like

Send a link, let them scan a QR code, or read out a short code they type into the Receive box. Whatever fits the moment.

Gone when you say so

An hour for something quick, up to a week for the slow repliers. When it expires, the files go with it.

One-time links

For the things that should only ever be downloaded once. After that, the link is dead.

Lock it with a password

Protected transfers reveal nothing, not even the filename, until the password goes in.

Send a whole pile at once

Multiple files arrive as one tidy download.

Know the moment it lands

Get a heads-up email the moment your file is downloaded.

Or skip our servers entirely

Direct send streams the file straight from your device to theirs over an encrypted connection. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and there is no size limit from us. Both of you just have to be online at the same time.

Your own devices, no link needed

Send from the laptop and it is waiting on your phone, because you are signed in on both. No link to copy, no code to type.

How it works

  1. 01

    Drop your files in

Set how long the link lives, and add a password or download limit if you want one.

  2. 02

    Share it your way

Copy the link, show the QR code, or read out the short receive code.

  3. 03

    They click, it's theirs

Any browser, any device, no account. Then the link quietly expires.

Frequently asked questions

▸Does the recipient need an account?

No. They open the link, scan the QR, or type the short code in any browser and download. Only the sender needs a GrumpTools account.

▸How long do links last?

Free links last an hour; Pro and Premium choose anything from an hour up to a week. When a transfer expires, the link stops working and the files are deleted.

▸Is it private?

Links are long, unguessable tokens, and you can add a password that hides everything, even the filename, until it is entered. One-time links die after a single download. For anything you would rather we never held at all, direct send skips storage completely.

▸Can I send a file without it touching your servers?

Yes. Direct send streams the file straight from your browser to theirs over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection, so it is never uploaded to us and there is nothing for us to store, scan or delete afterwards. We only pass the few kilobytes of handshake that let the two devices find each other. The trade is that you both have to be online at the same time and the sending tab has to stay open. It is included with Pro.

▸Can I send files between my own devices?

Yes, and without a link. Anything you send shows up under My transfers on every device you are signed in on, so you can upload on your computer and download straight from your phone. If both devices are open at once you can stream it directly between them instead, so it never reaches our servers at all.

▸How big can transfers be?

Free sends one file a day up to 1 GB on a 1-hour link. Pro sends up to 10 GB per transfer and Premium up to 100 GB, with every option unlocked: password protection, download limits, longer expiry, email notifications, and direct device-to-device sends with no size limit at all. Several files in one send are zipped in your browser, up to 2 GB together; send bigger files one at a time.
