GrumpTools

About

Built by a creator who got tired of the tools

GrumpTools is made by Grumpy, someone who actually makes and publishes content on YouTube, TikTok and Twitch. It exists because the tools he needed kept getting in the way.

The problem that started it

Publishing one video meant opening six different websites. One to convert the file into something an editor would accept. Another to trim it. Another to generate captions, which then stamped a watermark across the result. Another to check whether the background music would get the upload claimed. Another to resize a thumbnail. Another to send the finished file to someone. Six tabs, six accounts, and often two or three separate subscriptions, none of which talked to each other.

What was actually wrong with them

Almost none of them were bad tools. They were just built to convert you rather than to help you. Free tiers that watermark the export are demos, not products, because the one thing you cannot do with the output is publish it. Caps measured in minutes per month run out mid-project. Lifetime import limits mean the free plan quietly expires. And the signup wall before you can see whether the thing even works is the most tiring part of all: you hand over an email to find out the answer is no.

What GrumpTools does differently

One account covers the whole workflow instead of six. Nothing is ever watermarked, on any plan, including free, because output you cannot publish is not output. The free tier is meant to be genuinely usable rather than a trial: real daily limits on real file sizes, and several tools work without an account at all. Paid plans raise the limits; they do not unlock the ability to use what you made.

Built alongside the work

Every tool here started as something needed for an actual upload. The thumbnail checker exists because thumbnails that look great on a monitor are illegible in the sidebar. The banner maker draws safe-zone guides because getting a channel banner cropped wrong on mobile is a rite of passage. The VOD clipper pulls only the marked segments because nobody wants to download eight hours of stream to cut two minutes. The tools are opinionated because they were built to solve a specific annoyance, not to fill a feature grid.

Where it goes

New tools get added when a real gap shows up in the workflow, not to pad a list. The desktop app exists for the jobs that genuinely belong on your own machine, where files never leave your computer and there is no upload to wait for. If something here is missing or wrong, saying so is genuinely useful; this is a small project and the feedback goes straight to the person building it.

Frequently asked

Who makes GrumpTools?

Grumpy, a content creator who publishes on YouTube, TikTok and Twitch. The tools were built for his own workflow first and opened up to everyone else after.

Is GrumpTools really free?

The free tier is a real one, not a trial. It covers the converter, trimmer, transcript, image tools, thumbnail checker, banner maker and a basic file send, with daily limits and uploads up to 1 GB. Output is never watermarked on any plan. Pro at $9.99/month unlocks the heavier tools and raises the limits.

Why does nothing have a watermark?

Because a watermarked export is not usable output. A free tier that brands your video has not given you a tool, it has given you an advertisement you have to publish. If a plan includes a feature, the result is yours.

Do I need an account?

Several tools run without one. An account is needed where the work is tied to you or costs real compute: saved boards, file transfers, and the tools that run jobs on our servers.
