Check Music Against YouTube Content ID

Find out if a track will get your video claimed before you build a video around it. The checker wraps your audio in a private test video, uploads it to your own connected YouTube channel, and takes you straight to the claim details, typically within minutes.

What you get

Real Content ID scanning

Not a guess from a database: your audio goes through YouTube's actual claim system, exactly as a real upload would.

Claim details in minutes

One click lands on the test video's Copyright tab, where any claims appear with the claimant and policy, usually minutes after upload.

Check up to 20 tracks at once

Queue multiple files and they are combined end-to-end into one test video, one check for a whole mix or playlist.

Private and self-cleaning

The test video is uploaded private, never visible to subscribers, and deletes automatically after 7 days (or instantly with the delete button).

How it works

  1. 01

    Connect your YouTube channel

A one-time connection lets the tool run private test uploads for you.

  2. 02

    Upload the audio

One track or up to 20 combined; they are wrapped in a private test video on your channel.

  3. 03

    Read the claims in minutes

Open the Copyright tab link once processing finishes and see exactly what, if anything, was claimed.

Frequently asked questions

▸How does the check work?

Your audio is wrapped in a black test video and uploaded privately to your own connected YouTube channel. Content ID scans it exactly as it would a real upload, and the tool links you straight to the video's Copyright tab in YouTube Studio to read the claims.

▸Is a clean result a guarantee?

No. It means Content ID raised no claim at test time. Rights holders add new references and can claim manually, so treat it as a strong signal, not legal clearance, and keep licenses for licensed music.

▸Will the test affect my channel?

The test upload is private and never published to subscribers. Content ID claims on private videos do not produce strikes, and the video auto-deletes after 7 days.

▸How many checks can I run per day?

Pro includes 1 check per day and Premium includes 2, and combining up to 20 tracks into one check lets you test a whole playlist in a single upload. The ceiling is YouTube's own API budget, which every GrumpTools user shares, so on a busy day checks can run out early. If they have, you're told before the check runs, and your own daily check isn't used.

▸Why do I need to connect my channel?

Content ID only scans real uploads, so the check has to run on an actual YouTube channel. Using your own keeps the whole process inside your account and your control.
